Description

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE LOCK OUT TAG OUT ENGINEER

  • Understanding of engineering processes, with a focus on safety
  • Good communication skills

It is ideal, but not essential that you have an:

  • Understanding of the principles of Control of Work and safe systems of work processes
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of Submarine or Surface ships systems

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE LOCK OUT TAG OUT ENGINEER

  • As a minimum, you’ll have a NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline

THE ROLE

As a Lock Out Tag Out Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your work will ensure the safety and efficiency of all operations on the submarine, making a critical difference in maintaining the vessel’s readiness and the crew’s safety.

Day-to-day, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of activities between Babcock and Royal Navy personnel. You’ll work within a small team managing the Lock Out & Tag Out system to guarantee equipment and systems are safely isolated during maintenance, approve and release critical work tasks such as essential repairs or system upgrades, and maintain important work schedules. Your presence in meetings will be vital for planning and organizing work, and you’ll ensure that the highest safety standards are always met. You’ll also:

  • Check and improve safety procedures to enhance overall safety
  • Supporting teams in the safe release/system of work by ensuring all planned and unplanned maintenance is carried out safely and efficiently.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Plymouth, Devonport.
