Description:
We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, skilled consultant with broad experience in children and young people’s diabetes to join our team at University College Hospital (UCLH).
The Children and Young People’s Diabetes Service is well established and is one of the largest in the UK, using the latest diabetes technologies including hybrid closed loop insulin delivery systems. The service also provides intensive support for young people struggling with their diabetes. This is an award-winning service with outstanding results.
We would particularly value applicants with active experience in research, pre-clinical type 1 diabetes, immunotherapy or technology. The appointee may have an additional interest that complements the current skills within our team, including mental health, safeguarding, neurodevelopment or adolescent medicine.
The post is part of the London Centre for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (LCPED) a joint venture between GOSH and UCLH since 1994 providing seamless care for children with endocrine and diabetes conditions from infancy to adult life.
Please upload CV with application.
The Centre serves London and South East and receives national and international referrals. The post-holder will be involved in providing care for children and young people locally, regionally, and within the national service.
The appointee will be expected to participate in teaching activities on the UCH site, liaise with the GOSH teaching and training lead, and will be responsible for educational supervision of trainees. They will participate in regular clinical professional supervision with senior colleagues, and deliver Continuous Professional Development.
The appointee will be part of a dynamic department with great opportunities for training, education and leadership and research. The Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes and endocrinology Department at UCLH forms a partnership with the Paediatric Endocrinology Department at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Training and education is developed jointly across the two sites, and there are opportunities to collaborate closely with the Diabetes team at GOSH in terms of research, education and clinical care.
We are developing innovative integrated approaches to clinical care with partner organisations outside the hospital. A new Electronic Health Record System offers exciting opportunities in both Quality Improvement and Research.
