This Locum Consultant post has been created to compliment and strengthen the existing team of surgeons working within the ENT Department at University Hospitals of Coventry & Warwickshire. We are seeking an enthusiastic colleague to join the team. The successful applicant must be committed to working flexibly within the department and will be expected to participate in the management of a General ENT Practice.
The University Hospitals Coventry Warwickshire NHS Trust is a teaching hospital and Major Trauma Centre which is at the centre of the Warwick Medical School where excellent research facilities are available. There is also a close affiliation to Coventry University and as such a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research is essential and excellent opportunities exist for those interested in joint academic appointments.
Applicants are preferred have an appropriate CCST or be on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register. Those who are within obtaining their CCST on the date of the AAC are also encouraged to apply.

The applicant will be expected to manage a General Ear, Nose and Throat practice. In addition they will be required to provide an emergency service provision which is currently configured as a 1:12 rota with colleagues from a neighbouring trust. It is expected that the post holder will have comprehensive training in ENT.

The Trust aims to achieve a standard job plan which in this case will comprise 8.5 direct clinical care programmed activities and 1.5 supporting professional activities. The on call component of this post will be included in the 10 session job plan
Demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit – this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice
Take responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the specialty. This will include the appraisal of middle and junior grade staff. Develop and maintain good communications with General Practitioners and appropriate external agencies.
