Description

This locum post has been created to act as a focal point for increasing elective skin oncology service. The candidate would also be required support other surgical specialties requiring complex microsurgery repairs.
This post will be expected to provide an elective skin oncology service working in an MDT with dermatology and oncology colleagues. Training and extensive clinical experience in microsurgery would suit the department’s current workload and aspirations and the post holder should be able to support other surgical specialties requiring complex microsurgery repairs. The department welcomes applicants wishing to work part time or as part of a job share. This post is based mainly on the Charing Cross Hospital site with regular outlier commitments at UCLH.
The post holder will be expected to join the 1:12 consultant of the week rota on the SMH site and associated on call rota and participate in the Major Trauma ward consultant of the week.

Duties and responsibilities
1. Provide High Quality Care to Patients in Plastic Surgery
1.1. The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration.
1.2. To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
2. Research, Teaching and Training
2.1. To provide high quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other health care professions as required by the Clinical Director/Chief of Service.
3. Performance Management
3.1. To work with medical, nursing and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance in the following areas:

4.1. To work with colleagues to ensure Junior doctors’ hours are compliant in line with the new contract
5. Governance
5.1. Participate in clinical audit, incident reporting and analysis
6. Strategy and Business Planning
6.1. To participate in the business planning and objective setting process for the directorate and Trust where appropriate.
7. Leadership and Team Working
7.1. To demonstrate excellent leadership skills with regard to individual performance, clinical teams, the Trust and when participating in national initiatives.
