Clinical Responsibilities To assess and review patients and perform procedures as required To support the clinical decision making of junior medical and nursing staff To ensure timely and effective communication with primary care colleagues, including using the Trusts electronic discharge summary system. To provide on call support out of hours. To attend the Department out of hours as per agreed protocols. To remain contactable and available when on call.
The job plan consists of 10 PAs, of which 8.5 PAs are DCC and 1.5 are SPA. The job plan will be reviewed on a regular basis. The Postholder, on a shared basis with ten consultant colleagues, will participate in a respiratory HOT rota, with that week (Monday to Friday) dedicated to acute respiratory work in the form of post take ward round, ambulatory care/HOT clinic reviews, HOT phone advice and ward referrals. We provide a specialist respiratory weekend and overnight on call service and there is also a small acute medical commitment, which results in an overall weekend frequency of 1 in 7.
Weekend respiratory work consists of a respiratory post take ward round and a targeted ward round of the respiratory wards. The post holder will be responsible for the care of respiratory inpatients on a rotational basis (currently 1 in 4 weeks). The postholder will be encouraged to develop a subspecialty interest, with opportunities for service development in integrated/community care, cancer and interstitial lung disease.
