JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an experienced Locum Registrar (Middle Grade) in Accident & Emergency / Emergency Medicine to join a busy NHS Trust on an agency locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated doctor to gain valuable experience within a high-acuity Emergency Department.
You will be working as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute medical and surgical emergencies.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full GMC Registration with a current licence to practise.
  • Minimum of 6–12 months UK experience working at Registrar / Middle Grade level in Emergency Medicine.
  • Up-to-date mandatory training and compliance documents.
  • Valid ALS (Advanced Life Support) certification.
  • Valid ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification.
  • Valid APLS (Advanced Paediatric Life Support) certification.
  • Evidence of right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (on the update service or willing to apply).

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • MRCP / MRCEM (or equivalent postgraduate qualification).
  • Previous NHS experience at Registrar / Specialty Doctor level in A&E.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Responsibilities
  • Assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Supervising and supporting junior doctors (SHOs / FY2s / CTs) in clinical decision-making.
  • Participation in resuscitation and trauma calls, including management of critically ill patients.
  • Liaising with specialty teams for admissions, referrals, and safe patient handover.
  • Contribution to departmental audits, teaching, and clinical governance activities.
  • Compliance with NHS Trust policies and GMC standards of Good Medical Practice.
