ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Section 12 Approved under the Mental Health Act.
  • Completed or actively engaged in PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training.
  • Relevant psychiatry experience at ST3–ST8 or Specialty Doctor level.
  • Strong communication and team-working skills.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
  • Previous NHS experience in psychiatry.
  • Experience across multiple psychiatric subspecialties.
  • Participation in research, audit, and clinical governance activities.
Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a Locum Staff Grade Doctor in Psychiatry (ST3–ST8 level) to join the NHS Trust on an agency basis. The successful candidate will support the clinical team in providing high-quality psychiatric care across a range of subspecialties. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated doctor to gain broad experience and contribute to patient care within the NHS.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct clinical care to patients under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • Undertake psychiatric assessments, formulation, and management of patients.
  • Participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and care planning.
  • Manage acute psychiatric presentations, including those detained under the Mental Health Act.
  • Participate in the on-call rota (if required).
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and timely completion of reports.
  • Collaborate with nursing, social care, and allied health professionals to ensure holistic care.
  • Support teaching and training of junior doctors and medical students when appropriate.
  • Comply with NHS Trust policies, GMC standards, and safeguarding responsibilities.
