The Baillie Group Davenport, NY location is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Log Deck Operator to join our sawmill team. This position plays a crucial role in the initial processing of logs, ensuring quality and efficiency in our production process. Log Deck Operator Responsibilities: Work in a safe manner and strictly follow all company safety policies and procedures. Inspect logs as they enter the sawmill process and clean log ends using high-pressure water as needed. Use a company-provided chainsaw to trim log ends to remove defects when necessary. Stand for extended periods while performing tasks in a fast-paced environment. Maintain a clean and safe work area by removing debris and waste from trimming operations. Follow training guidelines and instructions to ensure efficient operation and quality control. Log Deck Operator Qualifications: Ability to follow safety protocols and work in compliance with company policies. Comfortable working on your feet for long periods. Willingness to learn and be trained in all aspects of the position. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment Prior experience with chainsaws or sawmill operations is a plus but not required. Log Deck Operator Pay & Benefits: Anticipated Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Pay - $17-$19/hour* Full time hours 6am -4:00 pm Overtime hours and Pay Monday - Friday On-the-job training provided – experience a plus, but not necessary Opportunity for growth and advancement in the company.
