Description
The Logistician provides support to a government agency for a Network and Infrastructure modernization contract in Colorado Springs, CO. Integrates the spectrum of the logistics processes within the operational, acquisition and wholesale environments. Responsible for directing the integrated logistics process, developing support policies, procedures and systems, and providing implementation guidance. Prepares and implements directives to ensure effective logistics support and establishes and enforces standards to ensure that the assigned work force is properly trained and equipped. It is the Logistician's duty to develop, initiate, integrate and manage all logistics actions associated with life cycle management of network systems, subsystems and equipment. Technical requirements are applicable across multiple United States Space Command (USSC) and USSC Component Command Locations in the Colorado Springs area. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS The ability to obtain, maintain and access classified information at the TS/SCI level. Must have DOD logistics and contracting experience. Must have a valid Driver’s License. Advanced knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, resources modeling, production methods and coordination of people and resources. Knowledgeable of principles within the areas of planning, scheduling, budgeting and operations for successful achievement of program objectives. Skilled proficiency conducting audits and utilizing quality management systems. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Establishes and maintains positive business relationships with key personnel involved in logistics activity. Assists in understanding customers' needs and ensuring that those needs are met. Assists in the development of plans for logistics management of materials and labor for project execution. Assists in managing the procurement of equipment with approved vendors. Assists in the receipt of equipment via established tracking systems. Assists in analyzing logistics performance and comparing against targets, benchmarks, and service agreements. Assists in managing the availability and allocation of materials, supplies, and finished products. Assists in managing the movement of goods to maximize value and minimize costs. Assists in developing tracking systems for materials and property management. Collaborates with other departments to meet customer requirements in the case of shortages, minimizing negative impacts on business. Assists in reporting project plans, progress, and results. Assists in the implementation of technical project management tools, such as plans, schedules, and responsibility and compliance matrices. Assists in the disposal of systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree is preferred and a minimum of one (1) years relevant experience in integrated logistics support, or equivalent combination of education/experience. Preferred experience in Information Technology support and Procurement. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is primarily performed in an office/warehouse setting. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, occasionally above head. Regularly required to twist at the waist, climb and descend stairs while carrying objects. Ability to speak and hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Works near moving mechanical parts. Regularly exposed to general office and general office machinery noise. May be exposed to warehouse, truck or forklift noise.
