Description
PURPOSE The Logistics Analyst identifies opportunities to innovate, improve service and/or reduce cost for all finished goods transportation. Recommend and implement adjustments to processes to optimize transportation spend.  This position is based in CO, and is a hybrid role that requires 1-2 days per week worked from our corporate office in Boulder, CO. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES  * Assist with carrier rate reviews, off-cycle rate changes, and KPI calculations.  * Responsible for setting up carriers and customers, loading contacts, rates, and hours, and on-going maintenance of this information in PCS, our Transportation Management System (TMS). * Manage inbound carrier prospecting sales calls. Interview and vet potential new carriers. * Evaluate supply chain fines for trends, errors, and opportunities for mitigation. Communicate with necessary parties to address.  * Resolve day-to-day carrier issues, including training new carriers and verifying carrier procedure compliance. * Backup Subject Matter Expert (SME) for TMS:  * Identify, document, test any new requirements for TMS * Develop reporting fluency to support ad hoc and ongoing data requests * Train new users * Recommend and implement adjustments to processes to optimize transportation spend. Analysis on new lanes and new shipping point of origin. * Develop and maintain SOPs for logistics functions. * Support the implementation of new logistics technologies and systems. * Prepare regular reports, presentations, and documentation for management review. * Backup of CL team as needed. Fluency in the following CLS functions: * Customer Service Communication – including order reminders, confirmations, quantity changes (order minimums), delivery changes, pricing errors, etc. * Ensure customer orders received, via EDI and e-mail, are processed through M3 and correctly flow to TMS.  * Arrange shipments from warehouse/plant to customers using contract carriers. Schedule shipments and deliveries that meet customer and warehouse/plant needs while considering costs. * Use TMS system to build shipments for customer orders, consolidating LTL orders for efficient, cost-effective transportation. * Confirm deliveries with carriers. Promptly address carrier performance issues and communicate ongoing problems to the team. When applicable, confirm carrier shipping appointments and delivery appointments. * Work with Accounts Receivable (AR) to research and resolve customer deductions (sales returns account). * Freight Claims – research, document, and file claims with carriers for lost or damaged product. Work with the carrier to establish the best way to dispose of product. * Pass on information regarding delivery problems to the appropriate parties. * Freight Invoices – Audit and approve carrier invoices for payment by Finance team. OTHER REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES * Travel as necessary to interface with customers, carriers, warehouses, and farms. * Other responsibilities as deemed necessary. QUALIFICATIONS * 3-5 years professional experience in customer service/logistics, transportation and LTL experience preferred. * Bachelor degree or equivalent experience required; Degree in Business Administration or Equivalent Degree with concentration in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain preferred or a combination of commensurate experience and education. * Prefer experience with M3 (ERP) and EDI systems/processes. * Required experience with a TMS, prefer experience with PCS  * Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook. * Excellent communication and collaboration skills. * Quick and creative problem solver who is well organized and detail oriented. * Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks.  * Professional communication skills: spelling, grammar, typing, and verbal. * Honest with a strong work ethic and good judgment with regard to handling confidential information. * Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable mode of transportation and proof of automobile insurance with required levels of coverage. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Must be able to sit for extended periods of time; be able to bend, stoop, kneel or crawl; reach grasp and lift up to 25lbs regularly and up to 50lbs occasionally.  * Available for regular scheduled travel to remote facilities via automobile or airline.
Responsibilities
