FREIGHT DISPATCHER

As a Freight Dispatcher you will handle all aspects of our customers’ transportation needs. You will be responsible for selling our customers on our services, finding and securing the best carriers to move their freight and managing all aspects of the move. This position will sharpen your communication skills and attention to detail. Your sales abilities and account management are important assets.
You will learn the basics, such as our phone system and dispatch software, while simultaneously assisting with our payables department and our dispatch coordinator. From there, we introduce dispatching and logistics, where you begin using your sales and account management skills to build your customer base.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong negotiation and sales skills.
• Organized, self-motivated and strong attention to detail.
• Previous freight/logistic experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Post-secondary education is an asset.
• Must be local to Kamloops, BC.

JOB DUTIES:

• Basic admin duties, including accounts payable and reception duties.
• Dispatch coordinating for several senior members.
• Providing broker assistance to senior staff.
• Receiving, dispatching, and assigning transportation orders to carriers based on client demands and service requirements.
• Qualifying and negotiating rates with carriers.
• Making sales calls and growing customer relationships.
