JOB SUMMARY:

The Logistics Assistant is responsible for supporting all inbound logistics activity, including optimizing truckloads, scheduling vendor pickups, maintaining accurate shipment data, and coordinating with carriers. This role works closely with vendors, purchasing, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth, cost-effective, and timely transportation operations.

• Optimize truckloads by grouping purchase orders to reduce mileage, control freight costs, and maximize efficiency.
• Keep purchase order statuses updated in ERP and TMS systems for clear visibility across departments.
• Manage and update the inbound receiving schedule; communicate changes with warehouse, purchasing, and logistics teams.
• Support the load bid process by sharing available loads with preferred carriers, including non-NCF backhauls.
• Coordinate vendor pickups and provide detailed handoffs for the Logistics Administrator.
• Maintain accurate vendor contact information for effective communication and follow-up.
• Track and summarize carrier performance data to support service-level reviews and logistics planning.
