Western Australian Specialty Alloys (WASA) is an international market leader in the production of superalloys for forging and ring rolling applications for a range of aerospace, power generation and oil & gas applications. We are a fully owned subsidiary of Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC) a US manufacturing company based in Portland, Oregon.
Airbus, Boeing, GE, Rolls-Royce, and many other leading manufacturers depend on PCC for critical airframe, engine, power generation and general industrial components. With few exceptions, every aircraft in the sky flies with parts manufactured by PCC.
We are now seeking a Logistics Assistant to join our Perth team, who is prepared to work within our values of: Courage; Ownership, Collaborate, Integrity; and Innovate.
This is a 6-month fixed-term contract with the potential to transition into a permanent full-time role, depending on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is responsible for organizing freight movements to ensure they are executed in the most cost-effective manner and with the shortest transit times, supporting both the operations & commercial departments, and reporting to the Logistics Manager.

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Monitor inbound and outbound shipments
  • Prepare and review shipping documents such as invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics partners
  • Track shipments and provide status updates to internal teams and customers
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments and transactions
  • Assist in resolving shipping issues, delays, or discrepancies
  • Support inventory control and warehouse coordination as needed
  • Contribute to process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
  • Adhere to company policies including the PCC Code of Conduct, Quality, and EHS Rules
  • Perform other duties within skills, knowledge, and abilities as required by management

To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the following qualifications and attributes:

  • 1–2 years of experience in logistics, import/export, or a similar role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems is an advantage
  • Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers
  • Familiarity with international shipping procedures and documentation
  • Knowledge of Incoterms and shipping conditions
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Competencies in contract negotiation and logistics managemen
