Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

AEP is currently looking for a regular, full-time Logistics Coordinator to manage and coordinate all logistics and shipping functions at our busy Nanaimo location. Reporting to the Operations Manager, our ideal candidate will be driven, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with strong communication skills and proven experience working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
This role is critical to our day-to-day operations, serving as the main point of communication between our sales, production, and shipping teams internally, while also liaising with customers and external partners. The Logistics Coordinator will oversee delivery scheduling, optimize geographical delivery routes, and provide daily direction to our driving team. They will also monitor and manage material movement within the lumber yard, ensuring both safety and accuracy in inventory.
Because this role manages and dispatches commercial drivers, a solid understanding of CVSE (Commercial Vehicle Safety & Enforcement) and National Safety Code (NSC) guidelines is essential. The successful candidate will ensure our delivery operations remain fully compliant with regulatory requirements while maintaining efficiency and customer satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a logistics or shipping coordinator role in a fast-paced industry.
  • Strong knowledge of CVSE and NSC rules and guidelines, with experience dispatching and monitoring commercial drivers.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise, and detailed instruction to multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating production and delivery timelines across departments.
  • Ability to monitor and manage a busy lumber yard.
  • Proven experience providing leadership and direction to offsite teams (e.g., drivers).
  • Experience in geographical route planning and delivery optimization.
  • Experience in the construction, building supply, or multi-site manufacturing industry considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to provide a clear Police or RCMP Criminal Record Check.
