Job Title: Shipping and Logistics Coordinator
Status: 6 Months Contract
Reports into: Supply Chain Manager
Functional Department: Supply Chain

DESCRIPTION

The Shipping and Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the booking and preparation of all outbound shipments including communication with internal and external partners, creation of required documentation and providing status updates. This individual must have a solid understanding of upstream and downstream processes and be able to proactively identify potential problem areas. There is a hands-on aspect to the role, working with teammates to physically prepare shipments of finished goods and other materials and to load and unload delivery vehicles. The individual will be the primary person to be aware of current and near future plans related to finished goods movements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of High School diploma
  • 3-5 years’ experience in shipping, distribution and manufacturing
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a licensed forklift operator – training and in-house certification will be provided
  • CBSA certification or equivalent courses and willingness to complete job-related education/training to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and business trends
  • Knowledge and understanding of shipping documentation; including commercial invoices and CERS forms
  • Experience working with external courier service providers such as FedEx, UPS shipments, etc.
  • Strong Interpersonal and oral communication skills are a must
  • Ability to multi-task with a high level of organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Deal with time sensitive job tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with general labour assembly an asset

Responsibilities
  • Prepare finished goods for shipment in trucks or containers, recording contents in computer system
  • Communicate with carriers to arrange pick-ups and deliveries
  • Pack goods to be shipped, confirm contents and affix identifying information
  • Ensure shipments are prepared appropriately for various modes of transportation: intermodal, truck, air, ocean
  • Complete customs invoice, packing lists, CERS, VGM, AWB/BOL for outbound shipments
  • Communicate shipment details within the organization including tracking numbers and time expectations
  • Track shipments to recipient, providing Proof of Delivery as required
  • Maintain tracking of finished goods inventories and liaise with the distribution teams
  • Handle requests for freight quotes based on company and customer requirements, with attention to cost, service and risk
  • Update scorecards on service carriers for KPI reporting
  • Loading and unloading of trailers
  • Retain records of outbound shipment activity
  • Assist with cycle counting and inventory activities as required
  • Participate in process improvement activities
  • Be responsible of daily cleaning of work area and equipment in accordance with 5S program
