Overview
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the front office shipping department. More specifically, the Shipping Coordinator is accountable for preparing shipping documentation for all dangerous goods, domestic and international cargo as well as coordinate all shipment activity

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate, assign and review the work of clerks engaged in shipping functions
  • Prepares domestic and international shipping documentation including packing slips and certificate of conformance, labels, waybills, customs and TDG (Transportation of dangerous goods) documents, CUSMA, CETA, and other trade agreement certificates
  • Resolve work-related problems and provide assistance to support staff
  • Provide expertise in ITARS and export regulations
  • General clerical duties including data-entry, invoices, filing, etc.
  • Assist the Administration Manager and Supply Chain in evaluating current couriers and brokerage
  • Prepares, verifies, batches and processes invoices and/or credit memos
  • Determines method of shipment and arranges shipping
  • Communicates with customer to request shipping details
  • Communicates with freight forwarding company to book pick-ups, verify rates and transit times
  • Prepares shipments online using Fed-Ex, etc.
  • Tracks shipments to destinations
  • Maintains internal record keeping and filling systems
  • All other duties as required

What you need to succeed:

  • Sound knowledge of ITAR’s and controlled goods, tariff codes, customs and shipping regulations and transportation of dangerous goods procedures
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and inventory principles
  • Strong English communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills in an MS Office environment
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to respond to customer inquiries in an efficient and timely manner
  • Ability to prioritize and operate in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to deal professionally with numerous internal and external clients and effectively manage telephone queries
  • Capable of working in a team environment
  • Capable of working on multiple shipments and inquiries simultaneously and works well under pressure
  • Valid Police Records Check
