Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Job Purpose
To develop and maintain strong working relationships with Dubai Customs, JAFZA authorities, Dubai Trade, shipping lines, port operators, government agencies, and strategic customers while ensuring smooth customs clearance operations, regulatory compliance, and timely resolution of customs-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain professional relationships with:
- Dubai Customs
- JAFZA Authority
- Dubai Trade
- DP World
- Port and terminal operators
- Shipping lines
- Airlines
- Government ministries and approval authorities
- Represent the company during customs inspections and audits.
- Resolve customs disputes, shipment holds, and operational issues.
- Coordinate with customs officials for inspections, examinations, and special approvals.
- Ensure compliance with all UAE Customs and JAFZA regulations.
- Keep management informed of regulatory changes affecting import, export, transit, and free zone operations.
- Support the customs clearance team in resolving complex customs cases.
- Maintain excellent relationships with key customers requiring customs services.
- Attend meetings with government authorities and strategic customers.
- Assist in obtaining permits and approvals from regulatory authorities including:
- MOHAP
- Dubai Municipality
- Other government entities when applicable.
- Monitor customs KPIs including:
- Clearance turnaround time
- Customs penalties
- Customer complaints
- Inspection delays
- Supervise the inbound and outbound processes insuring the timely submission of all steps.
- Constantly checking the ERP System to ensure correct reflection of the ongoing transactions.
- Prepare and present regular reports and analysis to management regarding logistics performance
- Train customs staff on new regulations and procedures.
- Ensure all customs activities comply with company quality and compliance standards.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned by the manager
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or equivalent (Preferred).
- Dubai Customs Broker Certification (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of UAE customs experience.
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of:
- Dubai Customs
- JAFZA procedures
- Dubai Trade
- Mirsal 2
- UAE Customs Law
- Free Zone regulations.
