POSITION SUMMARY

As the Logistics & Distribution Specialist of the Vehicle Operations Team (Compound & Trucking), your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supervising and managing the daily operations of vehicle carriers while ensuring the compound is organized, maintained, and operating in compliance with all safety and security protocols. You will oversee vehicle storage and tracking, ensuring carriers are receiving releases, delivering according to plan, and resolving any shortfalls. Additionally, you will maintain the GCI ATLAS system with up-to-date trucking allocations and miscellaneous or special moves. You will monitor the movement of vehicles (tracking and tracing) to ensure customer wholesale targets are met and will address any exceptions, including non-runners, damages, tows, and other discrepancies. You will also be responsible for daily reporting and forecasting to support operational planning and performance monitoring.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / LICENSE

  • Highschool diploma is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • CCLP, LS, P. Log is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in logistics operations required; 4-5 years preferred.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in logistics operations is highly preferred.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in automotive manufacturing and/or finished vehicle logistics, including auto carriers and compounds.

Responsibilities
  • Carrier Management: Monitor releases, dwell times, and delivery performance. Track logistics trends and recommend operational adjustments. Evaluate scorecards, contracts, rates, and manage claims. Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, negotiate terms, rates, and contracts.
  • Team Management: Oversee daily operations, ensure employee productivity, monitor process efficiency, enforce compliance with procedures, and create a positive work environment for employees.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Provide up-to-date information to upper management on performance, challenges, issues, changes, and improvements. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the compound’s operations.
  • Inventory Management: Keep track of all vehicles in the compound. Generate reports on vehicle inventory.
  • Systems Management: Manage the GCI ATLAS system, ensuring data integrity.
  • Customer Service Management: Oversee and manage customer support operations, ensuring excellent customer experiences. Handle inquires, resolve issues, and collaborate with others to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Achieve monthly regional wholesale targets.
  • Forecast daily projections for rail-bound and truck-outbound activities to achieve the wholesale target.
  • Attend weekly meetings with Operations and customers.
  • Update ATLAS accurately (compound arrival, tender/release to carrier, cancellations, yard exit, carrier delivery, miscellaneous/special moves, DPU dealer pick up, etc.)
  • Participate in regular planning and reviews of change processes in line with changes (storage footprint, off-site options, etc.)
  • Track logistic trends and use data with information to recommend changes (rail arrivals, truck yard exits, inventory, carrier performance, etc.)
