LOGISTICS IMPORT COORDINATOR - CARTERTON, OXFORDSHIRE

OQEMA are one of the leading chemical distribution companies for commodities and specialities within Europe and as part of our investment programme for the site, we are looking to expand the team and are seeking an Import Coordinator based in Carterton, Oxfordshire.
Our Logistics Team is responsible for the import/export and distribution of chemicals either within the UK, or globally. We have a number of warehouses within the UK, but also third party storage in Europe, US, Dubai and Malaysia.
We are looking for a competent and experienced Import Coordinator to join our Logistics Team. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating the import of chemicals into our UK warehouses. The successful candidate will have had previous experience of imports or exports, and a good knowledge of incoterms and customs procedures. A knowledge of ADR regulations would be advantageous.
Hours of work are 9am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday and are office based.

The role will involve;

  • Monitoring and updating our Import Shipping Schedules within our ERP system to reflect current changes and updates to each purchase order on a daily basis
  • Liaising with hauliers and making arrangements via our clearing agents for all bookings into our UK Warehouses
  • Liaising with our Procurement and Warehouse teams
  • Processing the receipt of stock into our ERP system
  • Processing shipping documents/import instructions/release notes for all shipments, and chasing suppliers for late/missing shipping documents
  • Ensuring customs formalities are adhered to such as bonded warehouse entries
  • Checking all customs entries raised by our clearing agents. Regular checking/monitoring of Customs Commodity codes for all products
  • Stock Planning: Monitoring outstanding customer orders against stock awaiting receipt and liaising with the relevant team members within the Logistics Team
  • Ensuring clearing agents supply us with weekly status updates of all outstanding imports for our UK sites
  • Checking outstanding purchase orders on a weekly basis and chasing up any overdue shipments
  • Checking/authorising freight invoices against tariffs supplied
  • Procuring the most competitive rates for haulage to cover our EXW/FCA collections, using reliable hauliers to ensure goods are received in good time
  • General cover when required within the Logistics Department
  • Answering the telephones and dealing with general enquiries.
