Job Details Level: Entry Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 4 Year Degree Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Day Job Category: Engineering We are hiring an Import/Export Specialist to work out of our Melrose Park, IL facility. Responsibilities: Call LTL, FTL, and Flatbed carriers to schedule shipments, meeting ship dates Monitor and record all trucks entering and leaving shipping area. Scale in and out all trucks, ensuring the weight is in line with the bills of lading and packing slips Maintain communication with logistics and purchasing departments regarding any shipping delays or possible retention charges Communicate with Logistics Manager related to any concerning discrepancies in weights and scaling in/out trucks Maintain communication with Customer Service and Logistics department regarding shipping dates and status of orders. Prepare ship schedule report daily Prepare and process import and export documentation according to customs regulations, laws, or procedures. Clear goods through customs and to their destinations Calculate duty and tariff payments owed on shipments. Request or compile necessary import documentation, such as customs invoices, certificates of origin, and cargo-control documents. Stay abreast of changes in import or export laws or regulations by reading current literature, attending meetings or conferences, or conferring with colleagues. Advise company on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, quotas, or other customs-related matters. Quote duty and tax rates on goods to be imported, based on federal tariffs and excise taxes. Arrange for transportation, warehousing, or product distribution of imported or exported products. Confer with officials in various agencies to facilitate clearance of goods through customs and quarantine. Provide advice on transportation options, types of carriers, or shipping routes. Maintain relationships with customs brokers in other ports to expedite clearing of cargo. Qualifications Good understanding of shipping and receiving processes within a manufacturing environment. Previous import/export experience. Proficient computer skills (email, internet, MS Excel). Strong communication and customer service skills. Fluent both in English and Spanish.
