The Opportunity | Te kōwhiringa As Logistics Lead, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth coordination of transport, plant, people, and resources to deliver paving and sealing projects safely, on time, and within budget. Working closely with the Paving Manager and operational teams, you’ll contribute to planning, tendering, financial performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role combines operational leadership, financial oversight, and people management — making it ideal for someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and hands-on delivery. Key Responsibilities Planning & Tendering Assist in developing project methodologies and programmes for paving and sealing works Support estimating and tender preparation, ensuring margins and contract outcomes are achieved Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational workshops Logistics & Resource Management Manage truck bookings and logistics scheduling to meet customer timeframes and quality expectations Allocate plant, labour, and technology effectively to maximise utilisation Liaise with Plant and operational teams to optimise resource performance Oversee subcontractor and supplier agreements and documentation Financial & Commercial Performance Monitor project budgets and financial performance Prepare monthly claims and invoices and ensure timely payment Reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and payments at month end Interpret and report on financial performance to P&L level People Leadership Lead, coach, and develop drivers, supervisors, and coordinators Conduct regular performance reviews and support career development Contribute to succession planning and team capability building Foster strong working relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders Client & Stakeholder Management Build and maintain positive relationships with client representatives Anticipate and resolve issues proactively to maintain service excellence Safety, Environment & Quality (Zero Harm) Lead by example in driving a strong Zero Harm culture Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality systems Identify and manage operational and compliance risks Promote continuous improvement in safety and sustainability performance Important Skills | Nga pūkenga matua You are a confident leader with strong operational and commercial acumen. You bring: 5+ years’ experience in project management and/or engineering within civil construction Proven leadership experience with accountability for staff, plant, and quality processes Strong financial literacy, including budget management and claims preparation Experience interpreting contract documents and schedules of rates Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills High level of computer literacy (MS Office and estimating/data systems) A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to innovate and improve processes A strong commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality A tertiary qualification in engineering is desirable but not essential.
