Job Summary: Nauru Medical Centre is seeking an experienced and highly capable Logistics Manager to lead international logistics, shipping, import/export, and supply chain operations supporting our medical centre in the Republic of Nauru.
This is not a conventional hospital logistics role. We are looking for someone who has hands-on experience managing international movement of goods, dealing with complex shipping requirements, customs, freight forwarders, suppliers, and challenging logistics routes.
The ideal candidate will be an independent problem-solver who can take ownership of logistics operations and find practical solutions when standard processes or established vendors are not available.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end international logistics and shipping operations for medical supplies, equipment, pharmaceuticals, consumables, and other operational requirements.
- Coordinate air, sea, and land freight from international suppliers to Nauru.
- Manage import/export documentation, customs clearance, freight forwarding, shipping schedules, and delivery requirements.
- Identify and resolve logistics challenges independently, including delays, shipment disruptions, customs issues, route changes, and supplier problems.
- Develop and manage relationships with international freight forwarders, shipping companies, customs agents, suppliers, and logistics partners.
- Plan shipments based on urgency, cost, availability, lead times, and operational requirements.
- Monitor shipments from origin to final destination and ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to ensure goods are available when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant logistics and international shipping experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with international freight, import/export, customs clearance, and cross-border logistics.
- Experience managing air and sea freight and working with international freight forwarders.
- Strong understanding of shipping documentation, customs procedures, Incoterms, freight costs, and international supply chains.
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex logistics and transportation problems.
- Strong negotiation, coordination, planning, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a remote or challenging logistics environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple international stakeholders.
