Job Responsibilities:: * Manage and coordinate logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. * Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the overall effectiveness of logistics operations. * Engage in contract management activities, including vendor selection, negotiation, and performance monitoring, to secure reliable and high-quality logistics services. * Lead and participate in emergency response operations, demonstrating emotional resilience and strategic thinking to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and deliver aid effectively. * Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with internal stakeholders, government agencies, NGOs, and local communities to facilitate smooth logistics operations. * Manage and mentor a team of logistics staff, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment. * Proactively identify and mitigate logistics-related risks, developing contingency plans to minimize disruptions and ensure continuity of operations. * Act as a customer-oriented point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing clear and concise communication regarding logistics plans and challenges. * Analyze complex logistical problems, developing and implementing innovative solutions to overcome operational hurdles. * Ensure all logistics activities comply with WFP policies, procedures, and international standards. * Contribute to the development and implementation of supply chain planning (SCP) tools and processes. * Represent WFP in various forums and meetings, demonstrating strong communication and partnership management skills. Job Qualifications:: * Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, preferably in a humanitarian context. * Proven ability to manage complex logistics operations, including emergency response. * Demonstrated experience in contract management and vendor negotiation. * Strong understanding of supply chain strategies and planning principles. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with a high degree of emotional intelligence. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural and challenging environment, exhibiting emotional resilience. * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a results-oriented approach. * Proven experience in people management and team leadership. * Ability to think strategically and develop long-term logistics solutions. * Proficiency in relevant logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. * Fluency in English (oral and written) is required; knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
