A Logistics Operations Specialist in a trading company focuses on ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods from origin to the final destination, often managing the entire supply chain from procurement to delivery . They are responsible for coordinating transportation, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulations, while also identifying and implementing improvements to optimize operations and reduce costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating Transportation: Scheduling and managing transportation, including selecting carriers, optimizing routes, and tracking shipments.
  • Inventory Management: Maintaining accurate inventory levels, preventing shortages or overstocking, and managing storage and handling of goods.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Managing all necessary shipping documents, ensuring compliance with import/export regulations, and handling customs procedures.
  • Supplier and Customer Communication: Collaborating with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers to ensure timely delivery and address any logistical issues.
  • Process Optimization: Analyzing data, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending improvements to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating potential risks in the supply chain, including transportation delays, damage, or loss of goods.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintaining clear communication with all relevant parties, including internal teams, suppliers, and customers, to ensure smooth operations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, with a strong understanding of shipping documentation and processes.
