Title – Logistics Specialist Location - Alexandria, Romania - Onsite Reports to: Operations Director Language: English C1 level required Summary Results-driven professional with extensive experience in logistics management, customs compliance, and export control regulations. Highly skilled in optimizing transport operations, overseeing international trade processes, and managing relationships with customs authorities. Proven track record of reducing operational costs and mitigating trade risks while leading teams to ensure seamless import-export activities. We are looking for a Logistics Specialist who will report directly to the Operations Director to drive efficiency and ensure full regulatory compliance. Responsibilities * Operational Leadership: Manage daily import-export operations, customs clearance, and transport logistics to ensure all shipments are delivered on time and in full compliance with international regulations. * Product Lifecycle Oversight: Oversee the movement of goods from production to final delivery, ensuring correct customs tariff classification, accurate documentation, and seamless transit. * Process Documentation: Create, update, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for logistics, customs clearance, and export control to ensure full compliance and audit readiness. * Strategic Planning: Align logistics and export control strategies with business goals, optimizing transport routes, choosing reliable freight forwarders, and preparing the department for future growth. * Performance Metrics: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as shipping costs, customs clearance times, and delivery accuracy to continuously improve operational efficiency. * Customer Relationships: Maintain strong communication with key clients, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and state authorities to resolve any operational bottlenecks or compliance issues quickly. * Budget/financials: Manage the logistics and customs budget, monitor transport and duties expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising compliance or delivery speed. Business Requirements * At least 5+ years of progressive operational experience in logistics, customs compliance, and export control within a manufacturing environment. * Experience working in both multinational corporations and smaller or family-owned businesses. * Solid understanding of factory operations, production workflows, and how manufacturing schedules impact shipping and warehouse timelines. * Comprehensive knowledge of international trade regulations, customs documentation, tariff classification (HS codes), and export control laws. * Proficient in enhancing logistics and import-export operations through continuous improvement methods. * Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and negotiate effectively with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and state agencies. * Previous experience handling logistics for industrial manufacturing or custom fabrication environments is beneficial. * Outstanding communication, leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities. * Strong proficiency in ERP systems (SAP) and logistics/shipping tracking software. * Bachelor's degree in Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
