Logistics Specialist – CDL Driver   Position Summary PerfectVision is searching for a Picker/Packer with a CDL license to help us with our shipping, receiving, and delivery operations for our steel distribution business. In this position, you will work in our distribution center, packing, labeling, scanning, loading, and delivering outgoing shipments. Our ideal applicant has general warehouse or order picking experience and an extensive CDL background. Essential Functions Statement(s) Logistics Specialist – Picker/Packer * Reads customer order, work order, or shipping order to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed or shipped. * Assist in shipping and receiving (as needed) unloading trucks, checking in merchandise using receiving documents, matches and reviews purchase orders to packing lists to ensure all required items are included: documents information relating to receipt, storage or distribution of materials for processing. * Operate forklift and/or manual pallet jack for moving or storing material. * Moves materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas. * Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, color, or product item number. * Fills work order or requests for materials, tools or other stock items and distributes items to shipping or to designated route driver storage area. * Packs, crates, and ships product and material to distribution centers, departments, and vendors. Includes shrink wrapping, boxing, and labeling. Marks materials with identifying information using appropriate methods: i.e. Barcodes. * Assist in cycle counts of physical inventory. Logistics Specialist – CDL Driver * Read customer order, work order, or shipping order to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, loaded, or shipped. * Operate forklift and/or manual pallet jack for loading outbound shipments. * Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas. * Provides quality review of all outbound shipments and makes spot corrections and training for picking errors. * Pack, crates, and ships product and materials to customers. This includes shrink wrapping, boxing, and labeling. * Operate commercial vehicles in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. * Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring that it is properly secured to prevent damage during transit. * Plan routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines while optimizing fuel efficiency and minimizing downtime. * Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance or safety issues promptly. * Maintain accurate records of trips, including driver logs, mileage, and delivery receipts. * Adhere to traffic laws and regulations, including hours of service requirements. * Communicate effectively with Manager/Supervisor to provide updates on delivery status and address any issues or delays. * Assist with loading and unloading of cargo, as needed, and ensure the accurate counting and inspection of freight. * Handle paperwork and documentation asscoatied with shipments, including bill of lading and delivery confirmations. * Operate equipment, such as liftgates, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, to facilitate the loading and unloading process. * Maintain a clean and organized truck, inside and out, and perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks. * Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe driving practices. * Provide exceptional customer service by interacting professionally with customers and handling inquiries or concerns. * Follow company policies and procedures related to driver safety, performance, and conduct.   Position Qualifications * Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate class and endorsements * Clean driving records with no history of major accidents or traffic violations. * Knowledge of and adherence to all federal and state transportation regulations. * Ability to operate and maintain commercial vehicle safety and effectiveness. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing paperwork and logs. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with customers and team members. * Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move heavy cargo as needed. * Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning software. * Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing schedules. * Commitment to safety, both for oneself and others on the road. * Professional and customer-oriented attitude. Education * HIgh School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) Experience * Previous Warehouse experience including picking, packing, and receiving is preferred but not required. * Previous CDL driver experience including running delivery routes. Computer Skills * May require some use of a computer. Preferably previous experience and/or training with Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. * Computerized shipping/tracking programs such as FedEx and UPS Online. * General knowledge of how to use a calculator, scanner, copy machine, fax machine, printer, telephone and various standard office equipment. * Experience with GPS tracking, route logs, and BOL logs.
