Logistics Specialist (Dispatcher) Job Description KAG Is North Americas’ largest tank truck transporter and logistics provider, delivering energy commodities, specialty products, merchant gases, and food products across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Reporting to the Toronto Operations Manager, our Logistics Specialists are primarily responsible for the paring of company resources to system orders while ensuring safety and efficiency-minded critical thinking. This position plays a key role in the day-to-day operation of Westcan helping to achieve our commitment to continuously meet our customer’s requirements. Full-time – working a modified shift of - Wednesday to Friday one week then Wednesday to Sunday the next week then starts over again. This is a 10.5 hr shift About the position: * Matching drivers, trucks and trailers to orders based on load requirements and qualifications while optimizing fleet resources and ensuring proper utilization * Ensuring drivers have adequate hours of service and rest * Ensuring product compatibility with equipment when assigning each load * Arranging for equipment to be available for fleet maintenance * Planning route for drivers by adding route or track points as required * Ensuring all load special instructions are communicated effectively to relevant drivers and/or personnel * Providing instructions to and answer questions from drivers * Contacting off duty drivers to provide trip instructions for next on duty status * Communicating with drivers on any deviations with planned loads * Communicating schedule requests to operations supervisor * Coordinating and communicating changes to planned orders and update system as required * Monitoring total mail and keep system up to date * Taking customer orders by phone, email and fax and enter orders to TMW system and provide confirmation of order to the customer * Managing tank levels and confirm inventory levels utilizing in house software system, identifying any conflicting information for review. * Prepare border crossing documentation, communicating with brokers and customers to ensure loads are cleared prior to driver crossing the border. * Using E-Manifest and Border Connect programs for shipment entries that are crossing a border. * Providing ETA as required and provide updated information to customers when changing plans What you bring: * Previous demonstrated experience in forecasting, manpower allocation and scheduling proficiencies * Familiarity and experience with RM’s, road bans and permitting- knowledge of LSD is an asset * Experience with windows-based programs is required; TMW experience is an asset – must be computer literate and savvy * High level of communication skills; both verbally and written * Outstanding customer service behaviors * Must have strong organizational, interpersonal as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines * Ability to maintain a sense of humor and composure in challenging situations and not be frustrated when the plans change * Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, requiring initiative and ambition What’s in it for you: * Very competitive compensation including immediate company-paid benefit package for you and your family * We offer a wide range of other employee programs and incentives including an RRSP/DPSP matching program, annual bonus opportunities, and scholarships opportunities for your children * Referral reward payments up to $2,000 available per successful hire (certain conditions apply) * We are a fun team and maintain a family like atmosphere * We listen to your ideas and give you an opportunity to make changes * We have an uncompromising commitment to safety and lead by example every day through actively caring about one another Please note, as a courtesy, we strongly encourage internal applicants to advise their immediate supervisor of their application for any position within the company.
