POSITION SUMMARY

The Logistics Specialist will oversee and coordinate daily transportation, shipping, and receiving operations to ensure the efficient movement of products. This role requires strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to solve logistical challenges quickly and effectively while maintaining compliance with company policies and DOT regulations. The ideal candidate will also have basic knowledge of truck mechanics to effectively work with repair shops, evaluate repair recommendations, and ensure the fleet is maintained cost-effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred).
  • 2+ years of logistics, dispatch, or transportation coordination experience (manufacturing or industrial setting preferred).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks/trailers to understand repair needs and costs.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP or logistics software experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Coordinate with drivers, dispatch, and warehouse teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
  • Maintain accurate records of transportation, inventory movement, and shipping documentation.
  • Communicate with customers regarding delivery schedules, order updates, and service expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
  • Track freight costs, monitor carrier performance, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist with route planning and optimization to improve efficiency.
  • Review and verify repair recommendations for trucks and trailers, working directly with mechanics and repair vendors.
  • Monitor fleet maintenance schedules and ensure timely preventative maintenance is completed.
  • Support the Baytown operations team with additional administrative and logistical needs.
