Description JOB DESCRIPTION: The LCV Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multi-unit trailer configurations, including Rocky Mountain Doubles, Turnpike Doubles, or Triples. This position requires advanced technical driving skills, a mastery of weight distribution, and a commitment to rigorous safety protocols beyond standard Class A requirements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Multi-Unit Operation: Expertly navigate LCV configurations across approved freight corridors, maintaining lane integrity and managing increased off-tracking. • Coupling/Uncoupling: Perform complex assembly of combinations, including the positioning of converter dollies and the connection of air and electrical lines across multiple units. • Advanced Inspections: Conduct exhaustive pre- and post-trip inspections, specifically monitoring pintle hooks, air pressure stability across all units, and tire wear on dollies. • Compliance & Permitting: Maintain strict adherence to FMCSA regulations and statespecific LCV length and weight permits. • Stability Management: Monitor and adjust driving behavior to mitigate the "crack-thewhip" effect and ensure stability during braking and cornering. Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Licensure: Valid Class A CDL with a mandatory Doubles/Triples “T” Endorsement. • Certification: Must possess (or be eligible to obtain) an LCV Driver Training Certificate as required by 49 CFR §380.401. • Experience: Minimum 3 years of verifiable Class A driving experience; prior LCV or multi-unit experience is highly preferred. • Safety Record: A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major violations or preventable accidents within the last 3–5 years. • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the "Bridge Formula" and axle weight distribution for multi-trailer setups PHYSICAL EFFORT: • Ability to manually maneuver converter dollies (often 300+ lbs). • Ability to work in all weather conditions to perform coupling/uncoupling and chain-ups as required. • Capacity to perform frequent climbing and bending during the assembly of units.
