MONDAY TO FRIDAY (HOME EVERY WEEKEND)

GFL Environmental is looking for a reliable and safety-focused Class 1 Long Haul Truck Driver for a dedicated run from the Maritimes to Montreal, twice weekly. This is a steady, full-time role with weekends off. The successful candidate will operate a tractor-trailer, complete all required documentation, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Valid Class 1 license with 1–3 years long-haul experience.
  • Ability to safely operate tractor-trailers, including air brake systems.
  • Must meet safety-sensitive criteria according to company standards.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend documents, maps, and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with GPS and electronic logbook systems.
  • Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance.
  • Ability to maneuver vehicles in tight spaces and heavy traffic.
  • Understanding of hazardous/unacceptable materials.
  • Commitment to following safety standards and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Operate tractor-trailer truck safely (1–3 years long-haul experience required).
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including DVIRs and daily reporting.
  • Accurately complete Bills of Lading, trip reports, and route documentation.
  • Utilize GPS and electronic logbook (Geotab) to track hours of service.
  • Communicate mechanical issues promptly to mechanics and supervisors.
  • Follow all federal/provincial safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain route standards and improve efficiencies with supervisor support.
  • Keep truck clean (interior and exterior).
  • Wear all required PPE at all times.
  • Report all accidents/incidents immediately.
  • Exhibit professionalism with customers and the public.
  • Attend safety and branch meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
