Description St. Louis Catholic School is seeking long-term Early Childhood/Montessori substitute teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Job Summary The Long-Term Early Childhood/Montessori Substitute Teacher is needed to fill in as the classroom teacher in the Montessori environment. Ministerial Character Catholic schools in the Diocese of Austin are canonically obedient to the Bishop and assist him in fulfilling his ministry and canonical obligations. Pastors, presidents, and principals serve as leaders of the schools to make Christ's mission present and enduring in the schools. In order to fulfill Christ's mission, the school leaders employ suitable, chosen collaborators, sharing with them Christ's mission and entrusting to them various responsibilities. Positions employed in this School help extend the ministry of the School leaders in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church. Essential Duties Plan for instruction with logically sequenced objectives based and submit plans according to the school policies Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning Use effective instructional methods and models according to professional standard practice Maintain current and accurate records according to school policies Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom Communicate with parents regarding academic, behavioral, and safety concerns Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters Supervises children for safety and appropriate behavior Assists students in supervised activities Demonstrates a willingness to respond to individual student need Communicate with the Principal and/or Assistant to the Principal about any problems or concerns Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits Follows direction and handles multiple tasks Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Supports the philosophy of Catholic Education Effective in working with young children Dependable Minimum Qualifications Education: Early Childhood Background 1. Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Associate degree with 12 hours in Early Childhood Education** from an accredited university or equivalent in a foreign country or 2. Bachelor’s degree and 12 credit hours in Early Childhood Education courses** from an accredited university or equivalent in a foreign country or a valid, appropriate state certificate. or Montessori Background 1. Bachelor’s degree and Montessori certification from a MACTE* accredited program or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education and Montessori certification from a MACTE* accredited program or Montessori certification from a MACTE* accredited program or Two-thirds of the Montessori certification training and approval of the superintendent Working Conditions • All employees of the school are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Principal in the exercise of the Principal's ministry and obligations to the school. • Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly. • Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech including Christian prayer and Catholic liturgical celebrations. • Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
