Malden Public Schools is seeking a trilingual certified ESL teacher to coordinate intake, assessment and placement of English Learners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MA DESE teacher license in ESL Prek-8 and SEI-Teacher Endorsement required
  • Knowledge of Malden Public Schools and the English Language Learning programs.
  • Intermediate fluency in three languages: preferably; Portuguese, Spanish and Haitian Creole
  • Ability to verify and maintain accuracy of confidential student information in English and preferably in other languages
  • Ability to adapt to changes in work situations and priorities based on student enrollment trends

Responsibilities
  • Administer the WIDA screener to all students whose Home Language Survey identifies the need.
  • Use WIDA screener results to support program placement decisions in collaboration with the ELL Director and Welcome Center Manager
  • Complete required paperwork, enters it into the computer, and facilitates exchange of documentation between the schools, parents, and the English Language Learning Program
  • Comply with federal and state regulations and classification mandates for english Learners
  • Support Parent Information Center personnel with translation support if needed.
  • Assess students at the Pre-K level.
  • Provide families and caregivers guidance in the school enrollment process for English
  • Maintain student/family confidentiality
  • Coordinate MA DESE ELPAC meetings with ELL Director
    Reports to: Director of English Learner Education & Title III
