Description Our Lady of Hope Catholic School in Kansas City, Missouri seeks a long-term substitute teacher for fourth and fifth grade math and science for the 2025-2026 academic year. Partnering with parents as primary educators of their children, Our Lady of Hope fulfills its mission by preparing a diverse community of learners to become the people God calls them to be, using their gifts and talents to serve others. The teacher serves the mission of the Catholic Church and provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth. The teacher has decision-making responsibilities in keeping with school policies and the Diocesan Schools Administrative Manual. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal. Responsibilities: Understand, support, and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the school's mission. Plan and implement effective instruction based on specific learning objectives and the diocesan curriculum standards. Assess, monitor, and document student progress through authentic assessment. Practice positive, consistent discipline, setting high behavior standards within the classroom and building. Implement positive, effective communication with all staff, parents, and students. Demonstrate professional responsibility in confidentiality, sound judgment, dress, attendance, enforcement of school and diocesan policies and general behavior. Be an active member of a faith community and a model of Jesus's teaching. Assume staff responsibilities and perform other duties assigned by the principal. Requirements: Valid teaching or substitute teaching certificate A bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred Prior successful teaching experience preferred Note: All employees are required to consent to a background check, commit to our Code of Conduct policy, and complete online and in-person training prior to hire.
