Description School Name: Sacred Heart Parish School Location: 706 C Ave., Coronado, CA 92118 Reports to: Principal Employment Type: Part-Time Monday, Thursday and Friday. (24 hours per week). Length of Work Year: Starting January 19, 2026- May 8, 2026 (until current teacher returns from leave- might be until end of school year). FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Rate: $20 -$21 per hour Sacred Heart Parish School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Spanish teacher to provide engaging Spanish instruction for students in Transitional Kindergarten through 4th grade. This is a part-time position consisting of two classes per week. The ideal candidate will foster a love of language and culture while building foundational Spanish vocabulary and conversational skills appropriate for elementary learners. Teaching Responsibilities: Plan and deliver age-appropriate Spanish lessons for TK–4th grade students. Introduce and reinforce basic Spanish vocabulary, phrases, songs, and cultural traditions. Create a positive, engaging classroom environment that supports active learning. Collaborate with homeroom teachers to integrate Spanish learning with grade-level themes when possible. Maintain classroom management that fosters respect, participation, and curiosity. Communicate with administration regarding student progress and curriculum needs. Input grades into the school's Student Information System (SIS). Submit weekly lesson plans to the principal. Requirements Religious Qualifications: Active, practicing Roman Catholic (Preferred) Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy Professional Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field (teaching credential preferred). Fluency in Spanish (oral and written). Experience working with elementary school students. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Commitment to the mission and values of a Catholic school environment. Physical Requirements: To successfully meet the needs of the students in his/her care, the teacher must: Spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom. While standing the teacher will frequently hold objects they are working with or demonstrating Sit on an occasional basis when developing lesson plans, grading, etc. Walk through the classroom and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks. Walk on both even and uneven surfaces Deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity; may require trunk or neck rotation to look back at the class Assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom to influence the learning situation. It is occasionally necessary to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds from the office to classrooms While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to be inside the classroom. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the classroom and preschool environment, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend trainings or workshops.
