Location: Hybrid (Rockford, IL or Jacksonville, FL) Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm CST, on call rotation Salary: $48,000 - $52,500 annually based on experience What work will you perform? In this role, you will serve as a critical member of Landstar’s safety team, responsible for ensuring safety related concerns and commercial motor vehicle accidents operating under Landstar authority are handled in full compliance with federal motor carrier safety regulations, state and local laws, and company policies. This position requires a high level of professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and composed while managing time-sensitive and often emotionally charged situations. Essential Responsibilities: Receive inbound calls from drivers, agents, customers and the motoring public on safety related issues. Respond immediately to accident hotline, handling outbound calls in response to safety related concerns Complete data entry of accident requirements and record Ensure compliance with federal regulations in aspects of DOT accident reporting, post-accident testing and reasonable suspicion testing Decision making specific to crash ruling Perform operator reviews and determine training needed and execute disciplinary action Must be available for all safety emergencies and capable of working autonomously in high stress safety situations Manage correspondence from the motoring public when complaints are safety related Analyze driver safety records and communicate disposition Other duties as assigned Minimum Experience and Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required One year of customer service experience in a call center environment Preferred Experience and Qualifications: One year of transportation/logistics experience One year of DOT safety related experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven independent decision-making skills Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Effective communication skills; must be able to retain and relay crucial safety information Accuracy in reporting crucial, confidential details to management related to possible increased liability/exposure Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists Capacity to maintain composure in emotionally charged situations and/or escalated conversation. Ability to travel as required (up to 5% travel) Availability for on call rotation Why work at Landstar?
