Description Overview: : Listerhill Credit Union is a financial cooperative whose primary purpose is to help our members live financially healthy lives. In 1952, seven Reynolds Metals employees deposited $5 each with the idea of starting a credit union that was member-owned and member-focused. Helping co-workers break from predatory lenders to borrow affordably and save for their financial futures, was their motivation. We have grown from a single office at Reynolds Metals to 18 branches throughout northwest Alabama and south-central Tennessee. Today, we serve 13 counties with a full line of financial solutions. You will preserve the Credit Union’s assets by creatively working with our members to cure delinquency and improve their financial situation. The role is responsible for reaching out to members, curing delinquency, assisting in loss mitigation efforts, maintaining follow-up actions on delinquent loans, and assisting the Loss Prevention Manager in gathering data on related legal proceedings. What you will do: Work in a results-focused environment, geared toward reducing delinquency and loss; demonstrate a measurable drive and focus on curing past-due accounts Positively influence behavior of members and co-workers, acting as an agent for action Work in an independent manner, demonstrating the ability to make sound decisions that may differ from member to member Proactively contact members when loan payments are delinquent. Ensure timely contact to cure delinquency and obtain member’s promise to pay Using all available tools, creativity, and a solutions-minded approach, seek out a reason for delinquency and build an appropriate action plan Demonstrate an ability to understand and execute credit union policies and procedure designed to provide tools for delinquency management and loss mitigation Interact in a way that avoids abusive, unfair, or deceptive practices and ensure collection activity is within credit union policy and all relevant regulations Enter detailed notes into collection software, to include reason for delinquency and a firm next step in the solutions process Effectively skip trace hard-to-find members, which requires creativity and resourcefulness Accept and record collection payments on delinquent accounts Recommend repossession of physical collateral when all work efforts have been exhausted Request and review credit reports and other supporting information from proper sources, using information obtained to further cure delinquency and mitigate loss to the Credit Union Answer telephone inquiries regarding credit information from authorized sources based on regulatory compliance Assist the Loss Prevention Manager in obtaining information for the follow-up on collections of delinquent loan accounts and on foreclosures, and repossessions in a timely manner On request, report to management on delinquent loans Must be able to explain delinquent account(s) activity in-depth with members Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Qualifications: Express the desire for additional compensation for exceptional performance One to three years of Collections or with documented successful results High School Diploma with knowledge of accounting, credit, and collections; some college preferred Must be able to work under stressful situations and work tactfully with the membership Must be knowledgeable of all collection policies to include, but not limited to, loan extensions and Troubled Debt Restructuring Personality traits such as analytical and critical reasoning skills along with the ability to problem solve and think creatively Commitment to LCU’s Mission Statement and Core Values Strong communication skills Must successfully complete appropriate LCU assessments This job description is not a complete statement of this position’s comprised duties and responsibilities.
