We are delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join our team in the role of Lower Limb Practitioner. This post will be suitable for a nurse or podiatrist.
The clinician will take responsibility for the triage, clinical assessment and diagnosis of the complex health and well-being needs within a defined sphere of practice. They will implement, evaluate and modify complex care/ interventions which they have developed to meet those needs. Contributing to the management of patients with complex limb and life threatening needs, the post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of service innovations within their portfolio as well as training to the team. This role provides opportunity for developing wound care, debridement, offloading and arterial assessment skills
In this role you will be responsible for delivering a high quality, accessible and timely evidence based clinical pathway for patients. You will work within both the community Podiatry service and in the outpatient/inpatient hospital setting at Westmorland General Hospital, where you will be responsible for the provision of care to the high risk lower limb. You will provide quality, evidence based clinical interventions, take responsibility for educating and training colleagues and support the community Podiatry team. You need to be an excellent communicator, able to work independently and confidently and possess well developed organisational skills.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
