Description Lower School Lead Teacher positions are for an education professional eager to participate in the development of a growing Reggio-Emilia-inspired academic program and help create and support a unique school culture. Bennett Day School teachers understand that the craft of teaching is dynamic; they adapt to and integrate this belief in his or her daily work in the classroom and school community. The lead teacher will work in collaboration with other teaching teams, specialist teachers, and the Division Head to integrate rich, developmentally appropriate programming in the classroom. Job Qualifications: 3+ years experience as grade lead, co-teacher, or special-ed teacher in grades 1-4 Experience in progressive education preferred Program and curriculum development experience; inquiry-based and/or project-based learning preferred Experience/professional development in/with special education Creative spirit and adaptable Collaborative mindset; adept at working with teams and open to new ideas Deep engagement in pedagogical trends, research, and best practices Experience with technology as a tool for teaching and learning Education Background: A bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree in education is preferred, Special Ed is a plus Job Specifications: Grade-level curriculum development Individual student documentation and evaluation Family communication: four conferences, family open house, weekly newsletters/blogging Mentoring, collaboration, and communication with Assistant Teacher if applicable Professional Development: Wednesday afternoon, ongoing professional development in and out of school, beginning and end of year PD Participation in Morning arrival or dismissal duties and others as assigned Collaboration, communication, and integration with Specialist teachers (Art, Music, TESLab, Spanish, PE) Participation in self-evaluation and reflection process; individual and team meetings with the Division Head Classroom materials preparation, maintenance, and ordering Hours: 8:00a-4:00p M/T/TH/F; 8:00a-4:30p W (PD) Requirements Physical strength to independently lift 15-20 lbs Fluency in written and oral language in English Ability to oversee and ensure the safety of children in and out of the classroom
Responsibilities
