Description Summary: The Lower School Technology Teacher will provide a dynamic and developmentally appropriate technology program for students in grades K4–6th grade, who use 1-1 iPads. Instruction will focus on building foundational technology skills, digital literacy, responsible digital citizenship, and creative problem-solving using Apple products and a variety of instructional technology tools. The Technology teacher is expected to stay current with educational technology trends and support the school’s long-term instructional technology goals in partnership with our faculty and technology team. Our teachers are building Christian community within and beyond the school, are active in a church community, and serve as Christian role models to students, parents, and staff. OCS teachers are expected to make meaningful connections between faith and learning. The employee is responsible for continuing education and completing certification requirements. Teachers must demonstrate strong instructional and classroom management skills, including but not limited to: using a variety of teaching strategies and resources to actively engage students; adjusting curriculum as appropriate; posting lesson plans on FACTS weekly; creating and documenting curriculum in Atlas; evaluating instructional materials against student performance; assessing students and providing opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery; grading and returning student work in a timely manner; enforcing school discipline policies in a consistent and loving manner; promptly communicating with parents and administration regarding academic or behavioral concerns; and maintaining an organized classroom and technology environment. The Lower School Technology Teacher is a position requiring a calling to use God-given talents to further the Kingdom of God. The Lower School Technology Teacher is expected to be a minister to the OCS community through actions, speech, attitude, and prayer, as they point students to Christ. Essential Function: · Teach technology classes on an elective schedule for grades K4–6th grade. · Provide instruction in age-appropriate technology skills including, but not limited to: keyboarding, digital literacy, digital creativity, digital citizenship, and coding. · Teach and model responsible digital citizenship and online safety. · Utilize Apple products and educational technology tools to enhance student learning and creativity. · Maintain and manage classroom technology resources and report technology needs or issues as appropriate. · Provide background instruction and guided practice prior to student projects. · Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff verbally and in writing. · Develop lessons that extend beyond basic technology use to promote problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. · Commitment to collaboration and teamwork within a professional learning community. Including partnering with our OCS Technology team to continue to provide up-to-date current trends in technology and innovative tasks. · Knowledge of and ability to use multiple assessment and instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs. · Integrate a biblical worldview into technology instruction, emphasizing wise stewardship, creativity, and responsible use of technology to glorify God. · Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Apple products and Apple-based educational tools (iPad, MacBook, Apple Classroom, Pages, Keynote, etc.). · Experience integrating technology into instruction to support student learning and classroom teachers. · Ability to assess the technology needs of the Lower School and adjust instruction appropriately. Supplemental Functions: · Ability to manage students effectively in a technology-rich classroom environment. · Support school-wide technology initiatives and special projects as assigned. · Passion for helping students develop 21st-century skills in a Christ-centered environment. · Attend staff meetings, as announced weekly · Due to the absence of a designated classroom, this position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to efficiently transport and manage instructional materials while moving between classrooms. The teacher will typically visit an average of six classes per day, with instructional periods varying in length from approximately 30 to 46 minutes.
