Description
1. Assists with the completion of the nursing assessment, provides input into the initial treatment plan, assists in identifying patient and family teaching needs. 2. Assists RN in implementing and documenting nursing interventions and related outcomes in accordance with established policies and procedures. 3. Develops and maintains positive interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and hospital personnel. 4. Keep charge nurse or designee informed regarding changing conditions of patients and/or other pertinent observations. 5. Receives and document inquiry calls from potential patients and referral agents. 6. Lead and/or co-lead patient groups, as assigned. 7. Assist in providing, structuring, and maintaining a therapeutic environment in collaboration with the patients, other mental health care providers and other related hospital departments: dietary, environmental services, lab, etc. 8. Reviews work performance with nursing supervisor, identifying personal and learning developmental needs. Establishes mutual goals for the coming year. 9. Participates in nursing committees, Quality Assessment and Improvement activities and attends continuing education programs specific to providing psychiatric care for the population being treated. 10. Performs other work-related duties as directed or requested. Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Psychiatric experience preferred. Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 3 months of new position.
Responsibilities
