Job Details Level: Experienced Job Location: St Cloud Orthopedics - Sartell, MN 56377 Salary Range: $21.50 - $30.00 Hourly Job Category: Nurse A. GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES Responsible for providing quality nursing care to patients and assisting with orderly patient flow. B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Assists in providing quality care to patients by escorting to exam rooms, obtaining vitals, height, weight and history of condition, entering data into EHR, instructing patient in regard to preparing for examinations. Prepares patient and room for sterile procedures, injections, aspiration, pin removal, suturing, etc. Assists in procedures including splint removals, application/removal of dressings etc. Lifting patients, disposing of materials according to clinic and OSHA policies and procedures. Complies with clinic policies on regular work attendance. C. OTHER DUTIES Communicates with patients in person and over the telephone to explain procedures, answer questions, perform telephone triage in order to assist with patient scheduling and to obtain current medical data and histories. Administers IM medications and lab draws as directed by physicians. Updates electronic health record according to clinic procedures, including dictation of phone calls, labs, etc. Cleans and restocks exam rooms and supply cupboards, relaying requests for inventory to appropriate personnel. Responds to Code 99 and other health emergency situations. Administers valium per standing orders for MRI patients who meet requirements. Monitors oxygen sats and pulse during scan. D. EDUCATION Degree from Licensed Practical Nursing or accredited Medical Assisting program. E. EXPERIENCE At least one year’s experience as LPN or CMA in a clinic setting is preferred. F. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Knowledge of nursing principles and protocols, especially related to orthopedics. Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality. Ability to plan, prioritize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, patients and families. Ability to work later hours as necessary to accommodate clinic schedule. Skills in communicating effectively with patients, families, physicians and staff. Skills in tactfully demonstrating compassion and caring when dealing with others. Skills in assessment techniques. G. REQUIREMENTS Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant, CPR Certification H. EQUIPMENT Computer, office machines, multi-line telephone, dictation equipment, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximetry, oxygen tanks, wheelchairs, and a variety of medical/diagnostic equipment and tools.
