Description At Salem Transitional Care of Cascadia Healthcare, creating a safe, supportive, and high-quality environment is at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Infection Preventionist & Staff Development (RN) to lead infection prevention efforts and support clinical staff development within our facility. In this role, you will oversee the Infection Control Program while guiding the ongoing education and growth of our nursing team. You will play a key part in promoting resident and staff safety, strengthening clinical practices, and maintaining compliance in a fast-paced skilled nursing environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a balance of leadership, education, and quality improvement. Essential Functions Infection Prevention & Control Oversee the facility’s Infection Control Program Monitor and analyze infection data to identify trends and potential risks Investigate outbreaks and implement appropriate response measures Maintain accurate surveillance and reporting in accordance with regulations Act as liaison with state and local health agencies for reportable conditions Promote adherence to infection control practices, including hand hygiene, PPE, and isolation protocols Staff Development & Clinical Education Provide clinical education and training for nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, CNAs) Facilitate in-services focused on infection prevention, safety, and best practices Track and maintain required education, competencies, and annual training completion Perform skills validations and competency assessments Coach and support staff to improve performance and clinical confidence Partner with leadership to identify and address training needs Quality, Compliance & Collaboration Contribute to infection prevention goals and facility-wide quality initiatives Monitor adherence to clinical and infection control standards Assist with survey readiness by maintaining training and compliance records Participate in facility committees, including Infection Control and Safety Maintain punctuality and regular attendance for scheduled shifts Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Education Graduate of an accredited nursing program required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Experience Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience required At least one (1) year of experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting required Experience in infection prevention, staff development, or clinical education preferred Licenses / Certifications Active RN license in the state of Oregon preferred Current CPR certification required Infection Preventionist certification (CIC) preferred or willingness to obtain Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards and regulations Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret data Ability to educate and guide staff in a clear and professional manner Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Organized, proactive, and solution-oriented Reliable and punctual
