Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s  Employee Relations & Compliance  • Investigate and assist in resolving disciplinary cases promptly.  • Prepare case briefings and advise line managers on routine ER matters.  • Counsel line managers and employees on ER issues to ensure fair and consistent practices.  • Listen to individual grievances and facilitate resolutions in line with company policies.  • Serve as a liaison between employees and management to maintain positive relations.  • Manage employee complaints and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulatory standards.  • Support company policies and take action to maintain a workplace free from harassment or discrimination.  • Provide education and training on company policies and procedures.  Administrative & Documentation  • Organize and update employee files accurately and securely.  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all administrative details related to employees’ exit.  Communication & Engagement  • Communicate HR policies, compensation, and benefits updates effectively to employees.  • Offer counseling services to employees on work-related concerns.  • Strive toward continuous improvement in HR service delivery and employee satisfaction.  Other Responsibilities  • Support hiring processes and onboarding activities as needed.  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Employee Relations Superintendent.  Qualifications / Experience / Technical Knowledge  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.   • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HR or Employee Relations roles.  • Strong knowledge of Liberian labor laws and HR best practices.    Core Competencies / Skills  • Ability to interpret and apply HR policies and labor laws.  • Skilled in conflict resolution and grievance handling.  • Excellent verbal and written communication for diverse audiences.  • Ability to analyze complex ER issues and recommend practical solutions.  • Maintain strict confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information.  Personal Qualities / Behavioral Traits  • Demonstrates ethical behavior and sound judgment.   • Ability to listen and understand employee concerns with sensitivity.   • Handles pressure and challenging situations calmly.   • Responds effectively to changing priorities and environments.   • Works collaboratively within HR and across departments. Working Conditions  • Based at Yekepa site with occasional travel to other site locations.   • Standard office environment with frequent interaction with employees and management.   • May require extended hours during peak HR activities or urgent ER cases.  Health and Safety   1.1. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and procedures.  1.2. Participate in health, safety and environment training programs to understand potential hazards, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.  1.3. Report any health, safety and environmental concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly to the designated supervisor or safety officer.  1.4. Assist in identifying workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments to minimize risks to personal health and safety.  1.5. Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained and used correctly.  1.6. Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and first aid protocols.  1.7. Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.  1.8. Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.  1.9. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.  1.9.1. Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.  1.9.2. Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.  1.9.3. Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.  Environment  1.1. Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and  compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.  1.2. Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement.  1.3. Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.  1.4. Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.  1.5. This is what we believe it takes to be the steel company of the future.  ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is operating inside Liberia since 2006, where we are employing approximately 1600 employees and about 1000 contractors mainly in the area of security as well as in transactional manual work like Bush cutting keeping the railway and our concession area free of natural overgrowth, as well as putting tarpaulins on the railcars etc. In Liberia we are running operations, spread over three locations, our harbour, and our Main offices in Buchanan, and the Nimba region the mines, existing of multiple mining locations at Tokadeh, Gangar and Yuelliton and a Crushing plant and rail loading facility, serviced by our own accommodation settlement in Yekepa. These locations are all connected with a 260 km Railroad, operated, and managed by AML, as per the MDA between ArcelorMittal and the government of Liberia. Currently 5 mtpa iron ore (DSO -Direct Shipping Ore) are produced, which will be phased out in the next few years and replaced with Iron Ore Concentrate. The Phase 2 project aims to increase export of Iron Ore to 15 mtpa (concentrate). This was restarted end 2020 after it was put on hold in 2014 due to Ebola outbreak in. Significant civil construction work was already well advanced when the project was put on hold. Phase 2 of the project consist of an iron ore concentrator at the mine, rehabilitation and upgrade of Rail line, and a new iron ore bulk handling terminal in the port.
