Description
1. Supervision and Coordination: 1. Supervise and coordinate daily MPQ operations including berthing, vessel loading, and cargo handling activities. 2. Ensure adherence to loading plans, tonnage targets, and cargo quality requirements 3. Monitor the performance of ship loaders, conveyors, and other cargo handling equipment. 4. Liaise with ship’s officers, pilots, tug masters, and port control to ensure smooth and safe vessel movements. 5. Supervise the loading of bulk (iron ore) onto vessels as per the loading plans and schedules. 6. Coordinate with various departments such as logistics, maintenance, and quality control to ensure seamless operations. 7.  Supervise loading, and storage of iron ore to prevent loss or damage. 8. Compliance with safety inspection schedules.   2. Team Management  1. Lead, train, and motivate a team of Supervisors, operators, stevedores, and material handlers. 2. Delegate tasks effectively and monitor performance to ensure that operational goals are met. 3. Provide continuous training and development to ensure team adherence to best practices and safety regulations   1.  Safety Management: 2. Ensure all operations are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies. 1. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits. 2. Provide training and enforce safety protocols among the workforces. 3. Number of regulatory compliance violations.   3.  Operational Efficiency: 1. Optimize material handling processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs. 2. Analyze operational data and implement improvements to increase productivity. 3. Conduct regular stock checks and reconcile discrepancies. 4. Tons of iron ore handled per hour/day.   4. Quality Control: 1. Monitor the quality of iron ore being handled to meet customer and regulatory standards. 2.  Implement quality assurance processes and conduct regular quality checks. 3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all material handling activities. Cost savings achieved through process improvements. Qualifications / Experience: * Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline (master’s degree preferred). * Professional certification or chartered status with a recognized engineering or project management body is an advantage. * Formal training in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems (e.g., ISO standards) is highly desirable.   Relevant Experience * Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Port, heavy industry, or large-scale infrastructure operations. * At least 2-3 years in a supervisory role, preferably within iron ore or bulk material operations. * Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end operations, including material handling, logistics (rail/port), and export coordination. * Proven track record of successfully leading multicultural teams in remote or challenging environments, ideally within Liberia, West Africa or similar regions. This is what we believe it takes to be the steel company of the future.  ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is operating inside Liberia since 2006, where we are employing approximately 1600 employees and about 1000 contractors mainly in the area of security as well as in transactional manual work like Bush cutting keeping the railway and our concession area free of natural overgrowth, as well as putting tarpaulins on the railcars etc. In Liberia we are running operations, spread over three locations, our harbour, and our Main offices in Buchanan, and the Nimba region the mines, existing of multiple mining locations at Tokadeh, Gangar and Yuelliton and a Crushing plant and rail loading facility, serviced by our own accommodation settlement in Yekepa. These locations are all connected with a 260 km Railroad, operated, and managed by AML, as per the MDA between ArcelorMittal and the government of Liberia. Currently 5 mtpa iron ore (DSO -Direct Shipping Ore) are produced, which will be phased out in the next few years and replaced with Iron Ore Concentrate. The Phase 2 project aims to increase export of Iron Ore to 15 mtpa (concentrate). This was restarted end 2020 after it was put on hold in 2014 due to Ebola outbreak in. Significant civil construction work was already well advanced when the project was put on hold. Phase 2 of the project consist of an iron ore concentrator at the mine, rehabilitation and upgrade of Rail line, and a new iron ore bulk handling terminal in the port.
