Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s The Production Supervisor -TSF: 1. Slurry Deposition Monitoring • Oversee the regular deposition of slurry in the dam, ensuring compliance with approved plans and procedures. • Monitor slurry flow rates, slurry pond levels, and deposition patterns. • Coordinate with operational teams to optimize deposition and prevent overflow or bank erosion. 2. Water Dewatering Operations • Supervise the water dewatering systems, including pumps, drainages, and sumps. • Verify that water is being effectively pumped out from the tailings pond and water dam. • Record water levels and ensure discharge complies with environmental regulations. 3. Inspection and Condition Monitoring of Infrastructure • Conduct visual inspections of key infrastructure components, including valves, spigots, pipelines, and pump barges. • Check for corrosion, leaks, blockages, and mechanical integrity. • Ensure pipelines are clear and properly supported, and valves/spigots operate correctly. 4. Visual and Structural Dam Inspection • Perform daily visual inspections of dam embankments, slopes, and surrounding areas for signs of instability or potential failure. • Document any cracks, erosion, or unusual observations. • Use monitoring instruments (if installed) to record dam movement, seepage, and pore pressure data. 5. Equipment and Instrumentation Monitoring • Check the operational status of monitoring equipment and instrumentation, ensuring proper functioning. • Record data from sensors measuring dam movement, seepage, and pore pressure. • Report anomalies to appropriate maintenance or engineering teams. 6. Safety and Environmental Compliance • Enforce safety protocols around the dam site, including personal protective equipment (PPE) usage. • Monitor for environmental compliance, ensuring no unauthorized discharges or spillages. • Participate in safety meetings and report any safety concerns immediately. 7. Documentation and Reporting • Complete daily inspection reports, documenting observations, inspections, and measurements. • Report any irregularities, damages, or safety issues to site management and engineering teams. • Maintain a log of operational data, inspection findings, and maintenance activities. 8. Coordination and Communication • Liaise with operational crews, maintenance teams, and environmental monitors. • Provide clear instructions for any immediate corrective actions required. • Attend daily safety and operations briefings as required. Qualifications / Experience / Technical Knowledge • Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering. • Experience with pumps and HDPE pipelines (advantageous). • Experience in processing plants, water resources projects a plus. • Possess a valid driver's license (light-duty vehicle) and be able to actively drive on mine site. Report any health, safety, and environmental concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly to the designated supervisor or safety officer. 1.4. Assist in identifying workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments to minimize risks to personal health and safety. 1.5. Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained and used correctly. 1.6. Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and first aid protocols. 1.7. Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses. 1.8. Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines. 1.9. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents. 1.9.1. Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions. 1.9.2. Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety. 1.9.3. Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations. Environment 1.1. Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws. 1.2. Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement. 1.3. ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is operating inside Liberia since 2006, where we are employing approximately 1600 employees and about 1000 contractors mainly in the area of security as well as in transactional manual work like Bush cutting keeping the railway and our concession area free of natural overgrowth, as well as putting tarpaulins on the railcars etc. In Liberia we are running operations, spread over three locations, our harbour, and our Main offices in Buchanan, and the Nimba region the mines, existing of multiple mining locations at Tokadeh, Gangar and Yuelliton and a Crushing plant and rail loading facility, serviced by our own accommodation settlement in Yekepa. These locations are all connected with a 260 km Railroad, operated, and managed by AML, as per the MDA between ArcelorMittal and the government of Liberia. Currently 5 mtpa iron ore (DSO -Direct Shipping Ore) are produced, which will be phased out in the next few years and replaced with Iron Ore Concentrate. The Phase 2 project aims to increase export of Iron Ore to 15 mtpa (concentrate). This was restarted end 2020 after it was put on hold in 2014 due to Ebola outbreak in. Significant civil construction work was already well advanced when the project was put on hold. Phase 2 of the project consist of an iron ore concentrator at the mine, rehabilitation and upgrade of Rail line, and a new iron ore bulk handling terminal in the port.
