JOB SUMMARY:

The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board is seeking qualified and committed educators to fill Long Term Occasional (LTO) teaching assignments. LTO teachers play a vital role in providing continuity of instruction and student support during extended staff absences. These positions offer the opportunity to work collaboratively in a Catholic learning environment that values faith-based education, academic excellence, and student well-being.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree;
  • Valid Certificate of Qualification and Registration with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT);
  • Qualified in the subject area(s) as listed above.

    o For positions requiring two or more subject areas, qualified in a minimum of one area;

  • For FSL positions, please note that first consideration will be given to applicants with FSL Qualifications and then to applicants who are bilingual;

  • Additional Qualifications (AQs) in relevant subject areas are considered assets;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current educational practices, inclusive education, and culturally responsive teaching;
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Commitment to ongoing learning, collaboration, and reflective practice.

  • Current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification in good standing;
  • Pastoral Reference;
  • Three professional references, including one from a current or recent supervisor.
    Long Term Occasional assignments will terminate as shown above, or the return of the permanent teacher, but no later than June 26, 2026. Effective dates are approximate and may be subject to change.

  • Deliver and assess curriculum expectations in alignment with the Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines across a range of grade levels;
  • Design inclusive, differentiated instruction and learning experiences to meet diverse student needs, including those with exceptionalities;
  • Foster a classroom culture that promotes equity, belonging, and student voice;
  • Use a variety of assessment and evaluation strategies to inform instruction and report student achievement;
  • Establish positive and respectful relationships with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and the wider school community;
  • Participate actively in professional development and collaborative school initiatives;
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities and school events, as appropriate;
  • Demonstrate commitment to the RCCDSB’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
