Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Preventative Maintenance Tech (Lube Tech) is responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and basic repairs on heavy construction equipment, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with manufacturer and company standards. This role supports service operations by identifying potential issues early, reducing unplanned downtime, and extending equipment life. Responsibilities: Perform routine inspections, oil and filter changes, lubrication, adjustments, and system checks per OEM guidelines. Document completed maintenance services, noting condition reports, fluid samples, and any recommended repairs. Use diagnostic tools and service manuals to identify potential issues. Report major repair needs to service advisors/lead technicians. Maintain accurate PM records in service management systems (e.g., Quipwear, Modern, Wearcheck, Miro, Vizalogix, CareTrack). Perform minor component replacements (belts, hoses, bulbs, wiper blades, etc.). Adhere to safety standards, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and environmental regulations for waste fluids. Support field service teams by performing PMs on customer job sites when required. Keep tools, service truck, and shop area clean, organized, and inspection-ready. Operate, maintain, and remain in DOT compliance with a lube service van or truck. Requirements High school diploma or technical certification in diesel mechanics or related field. 1–3 years of experience with heavy equipment, trucks, or automotive PM preferred. Familiarity with Volvo CE, or other OEM equipment, is a plus. Ability to read technical manuals and use diagnostic software. Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Detail-oriented and proactive in spotting early signs of wear/failure. Strong communicator with technicians, service writers, and customers. Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious. Physical Requirements: While performing this job, employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods. The position requires the ability to kneel, stoop, bend, climb and crawl without restrictions. Comfort with climbing onto equipment and working in tight spaces. The position requires the continuous use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The position requires the ability to work in varying outdoor environments with various terrain. Must possess the ability to safely drive a field service truck and pass DOT physical and MVR requirements. Employees are expected to meet the Physical Demands of the job.
