Wages Starting wage will depend on experience and education. $33.80 - $36.00 Responsibilities About Us: The Caterpillar Landfill Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Caterpillar heavy equipment used in landfill operations. This role supports Orange County landfill facilities (San Juan Capistrano, Irvine and Brea) by ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. Work is performed on-site at landfill locations and may include field service assignments. Position: Caterpillar Landfill Technician Work Location: Orange County Landfill Sites -San Juan Capistrano Rate: $33.80-$36.00 We Offer a Comprehensive Package: Career Stability Opportunity for Growth Medical, Dental, Vision 401K with a Match Profit Sharing Flexible Spending Accounts Basic Life and AD&D Insurance Lead and Field Premium Tool Allowance Program Tool Insurance Coverage Company Provided Uniforms Life Assistance Program Critical Illness Insurance Paid Vacation, Sick Time and Holidays Requirements: Inspect, diagnose, and repair Caterpillar heavy equipment, including bulldozers, compactors, loaders, and excavators Perform scheduled preventive maintenance such as oil changes, fluid services, and system inspections Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems Disassemble, repair, and reassemble machine components according to Caterpillar standards Use Caterpillar diagnostic tools, manuals, and software to identify and resolve equipment issues Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform field service repairs at landfill sites Accurately document repairs, parts usage, and labor hours Follow all safety policies and procedures while working in landfill environments Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and site personnel Work Environment Primarily outdoors at active landfill sites Exposure to heavy machinery, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions May require travel between landfill locations (San Juan Capistrano, Irvine and Brea) service facilities Overtime and flexible scheduling may be required based on operational needs Hours 4:30am start time with overtime and Saturdays included Qualifications One-year certificate or associate’s degree from a community college or technical school; Minimum 5+ years of CAT dealer experience and ten years’ heavy equipment industry experience or equivalent education and experience.
