Department: Shop Operations
Work Location: Mendota Heights, MN
Job type: Full-Time / Year-Round (although the shop does close for 3 weeks over winter)

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1–3 years of experience in equipment maintenance, lubrication, or a related mechanical role preferred.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems a plus.
  • Valid CDL (Class B with air brake and hazmat endorsement) preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Good driving record
  • Strong safety awareness and technical capacity
  • Reliable and strong problem-solving skills
  • High school education or GED equivalent.
  • Strong team player

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintenance of fleet of large diesel trucks and highway-heavy equipment.
  • Take responsibility for entry-level repairs.
  • Perform trailer and truck maintenance and repairs, regarding brakes, lights, springs, and more simple fixes.
  • Exercise resourcefulness while troubleshooting problems, prior to escalating the issue to a Mechanic.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance to fleet for DOT inspections.
  • Understand and follow established procedures.
  • Watch carefully for problems and potential problems.
  • Use judgement to determine repair priorities.
  • Create and use routines for maintenance.
  • Create and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow employees for safety and efficiency.
  • Follow company and industry safety standards and procedures at all times.
