In this high-impact role, you’ll assist with driving purchasing strategy for lumber and core building materials—ensuring our operations stay competitive, efficient, and well-supplied. Lumber Buyer Key Responsibilities: Source and procure lumber from mills and wholesalers to meet production and sales needs Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to secure the best value Build and maintain strong long-term supplier relationships Track lumber commodity markets and anticipate trends to guide purchasing decisions Manage inventory levels to align with forecasts, budgets, and operational goals Ensure specifications are accurately communicated between suppliers, manufacturing, sales, and purchasing Produce inventory and procurement reports to support decision-making Support purchase order entry, receiving, and quality control processes Manage requests for quotes and contribute ideas for process improvements and cost savings Lumber Buyer Qualifications: Knowledge of lumber grades, species, dimensions, and market pricing Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills Excellent communication and organizational abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheets Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lumber buying, supply chain, or purchasing Must successfully complete a drug screening as part of our commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace #INDGA
